Under Glass

It's all so different from the window in the back of my car
Like when I look at you, it’s like you’re under glass
The world is drifting past
And I can’t touch you

And I stand, and I stare; I reach out to you there

to find nothing (there’s nothing I can do)
And it’s all I can take; I can’t take anymore of this missing you

 – under glass

Are you fragile; are you precious; or just in need of some repair
I see my reflection each time I look at you
In the guardian glass I’m looking thru
But you don’t touch me

And I stand, and I stare; I reach out to you there to find nothing

  (there’s nothing I can do)
And it’s all I can take; I can’t take anymore of this missing you
So I stop, and I turn, I’m aware of the burn of your eyes on me

  (will this feeling last)
But it’s hard to believe it’s as close as we’ll ever be

 – under glass

And I wait for you afraid of the damage I’d do
If I took the chance of crashing thru

And I stand, and I stare; I reach out to you there to find nothing

   (there’s nothing I can do)
And it’s all I can take; I can’t take anymore of this missing you
So I stop, and I turn, I’m aware of the burn of your eyes on me

   (will this feeling last)
But it’s hard to believe it’s as close as we’ll ever be
